Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Helping children with autism reach their full potential
What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically research-based, data-driven method for systematic ongoing evaluation and teaching strategies for developmentally appropriate behavior. It is implemented to help clients learn new skills that can be integrated across essential areas of day-to-day experiences usually required for life-long success. ABA is a proven and highly effective approach for teaching children and adolescents with autism necessary adaptive skills for the enjoyment of greatest independence in everyday living when interacting at home, at school, and in the community.
Areas where ABA can help
Behavior management (emotional regulation, flexible thinking, problem solving)
Communication (language development and conversational skills)
Social skills (adaptive and functional as needed for life at home, with friends, and co-workers)
Organizational (executive function) skills
Embedded fine and gross motor skills (using buttons, zippers, pouring liquid, handwriting, climbing stairs, enjoying playground equipment)
Daily living skills (potty training, self-care, vocational)
School readiness (engagement for early learning/group learning, following routines)
About ABA at Lake Pointe
All ABA services are provided Licensed Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT).
Treatment plans and services are individualized to the needs of each client and family and based on thorough assessments. We understand the importance of making learning FUN, and strive to ensure your child is growing and receiving therapy in a safe and kid-friendly environment. Most sessions are one-to-one instruction and small group when indicated.
The goals for your child will include natural opportunities for learning, while working intimately with parents and siblings toward real-life issues and person-centered meaningful outcomes!
At Lake Pointe, we understand goals may look different for each individual. We value the importance of working hand in hand with parents, educators and other therapists on the team.

Families are contacted as appropriate openings become available. We prioritize ensuring that when services begin, we can provide high-quality care.

This phase helps ensure everything is in place before assessment and services begin.

Our Approach to ABA at Lake Pointe
ABA is a research-backed approach to building meaningful, functional skills — but at Lake Pointe, it is more than a set of techniques.
We provide trauma-informed, compassionate, and assent-based care, ensuring every child feels safe, respected, and empowered. Our approach integrates evidence-based strategies in ways that feel natural, engaging, and respectful of each child’s autonomy.
Our services may include:
Natural Environment Teaching (NET)
Play-based learning
Discrete Trial Training (DTT), used thoughtfully
Group sessions to support social connection
We emphasize connection, dignity, and trust, because meaningful growth happens in safe, supported relationships.
💡 Every child deserves therapy that meets them where they are — with respect, science, and heart.
A Note About DTT
While Discrete Trial Training (DTT) is one of many evidence-based tools we may use, it is not our primary teaching approach.
Our focus is on:
Play-based, relationship-centered learning
Trauma-informed care
Supporting skill generalization in real-world settings
Our goal is meaningful, lasting progress — not just skill acquisition.
